ECU tuning advice: Choose KESS, KTAG, CMD, BDM100 or TL866A?

D'abord, vous devez savoir qu'il ya 4 façons de programmer ECU (selon l'année de la voiture et les types d'ECU):
  1. Flashing ECU via le port de communication OBD2
  2. Flashing ECU via un port BDM spécial qui est sur la carte mère de l'ECU
  3. Flashing l'ECU en mode de démarrage, sur la table
  4. Souder l'EEPROM sur l'ECU et reprogrammation ECU
  1. Maintenant, vous allez savoir dans chaque sens de la programmation de l'ECU et les outils ECU de réglage recommandés.
  2. Flashing ECU via OBD
Vous pouvez flasher plus UCE 2000 à 2.008 (et beaucoup d'entre eux, même après 2008) via le port OBD. Tout ce que vous avez besoin est un outil flash OBD, brancher l'outil avec la voiture via OBD et donner la batterie 12V stable l'alimentation électrique de votre voiture. De cette façon, vous pouvez lire ECU et flasher le fichier d'accord sur le câble. Il est le moyen le plus simple et le plus rapide de la reprogrammation ECU.

  1. Flashing ECU via BDM
Most ECUs from 2002 to 2008 (and some later) have a special communication port on the motherboard called a BDM port. To access this port you need to take the ECU out of the car and open it. In this way ECU will receive a stable 12V power, and can be flashed over and over again. So this is most safe way for ECU programming. And you can also backup if something goes wrong with the flashing via OBD.

  1. Flashing ECU via Boot Mode
You need to take ECU out of the car, and program it on the table while connecting special cables to the ECU's connector pins. Sometimes you also need to do some soldering, like adding resistors to the motherboard…

  1. Flashing via soldering EEPROM
You can use this way for older car ECUs and a big percentage of truck ECUs. You also need to take out the ECU, open it and desolder out the EEPROM chip. Then you can read EEPROM chip using an EEPROM programmer. After read, file is modified and then programmed back on a chip (or on a new, empty one). Then you solder the chip back into the ECU.

This is a how-to guide for using XTOOL X100 PAD Tablet Key Programmer to read Citroen C3 pin code. Steps are super easy! Check as follows:
Connect XTOOL X-100 PAD with car, turn ignition on.
Power on XTOOL X-100 PAD then click “Immobilization” icon.
Choose “Citroen” and “Citroen V26.30” then “Read security code” function.

Switch ignition off then click “OK” to continue.
Wait 12 seconds, press “OK” then turn on ignition immediately.
Then just follow the tips to turn ignition off and turn it on for several times. Wait the process complete to 100%.
About 3 minutes XTOOL X-100 PAD successfully read out Citroen C3 pin code as “M1N5”!

How do you think of Renault-Com Bluetooth interface

Thread: I noticed a new bluetooth renault-com interface is out there that is suppose to be as good as the dealer Clip Tool. Also looks like PSA (PSA-com) version for Citroen and Peugeot is out to. Anyone got any more information? I found some information on PSA-com software and it looks a bit crap. Anyone got one? Looks like a clone tool maybe?

But only a few people have used it, and few to know how weak is the software, something as ELMscan or something as that...

I will buy a such crap tool when i see Reno represenatatives using it, for now i trust CANClip used by all Reno dealers.

CANClip is good most for reading/erasing failures and in relation with DFxxx failure definitions and treatment seen in Dialogys, very useful for mechanic guys ... for going above mechanician activity, special ecu function activations you should have something as is Derelek/Renolink, the combination CLiP + Renolink is unbeatable for Reno lovers.
But that Ren-com is to got after, seen where they are going to do with that product

It’s said that the Renault-com interface can make up for CANCLiP, ok to do key programming and ecu programming

How read write Citroen Berlingo EDC16C34 OBD OK by Fgtech V54?

This blog is a detailed tutorial about using Fgtech Galletto 4 V54 Master to read and write Citroen Berlingo EDC16C34 ECU via OBD. (Not on bench) Check below steps!

How Fgtech Galletto 4 read EDC16c34 via OBD?
Step1. Connect Fgtech Galletto 4 V54 directly to car OBD port via 16 pin OBD2 cable. Then connect it to laptop via USB cable. (When read ECU you don't need 12v external power supply)
Turn on the key to position 1 but don't start engine.
Step2. Open Fgtech V54 software, first click “Select Driver” to choose correct driver for your car / ECU.
Next check “ECU Data” to see if connection is OK.
Step3. Click “Read file”, enter name of the file, and reading start.
Wait until reading is 100% complete. Turn the dashboard off.
How Fgtech Galletto 4 write EDC16c34 via OBD?
NOTE:
  1. Make sure your car battery is ok. You must have over 12v steady volts to write. You can connect your car battery to external 12v charger.
  2. You can damage your ECU if voltage drops under 12v. If writing process is disrupted you can recover your ECU only by BDM restore.
Click “Write file” to start ECU writing.
When the writing complete, turn off the dashboard and wait 3 minutes.
Then turn on dashboard and wait 3 minutes. After that you can turn on the engine.

How to reset Renault Scenic II Electric Brake by Launch CRP129?

This blog will show you how use Launch Creader VIII CRP129 to reset Renault Scenic II Electric Brake. (Launch CRP129 support French) Steps are easy as below:
First, connect Launch CRP129 OBD2 scanner with Renault Scenic via car OBD2 port.
Next, insert key card into key slot and do not press the brake pedal.
Then, press the car Start button for 6 seconds.
Power on the scanner and choose “Diagnostics”.
Go to “Replacement”.
And choose “Reset Brake”.
Select “Renault” car maker.
Follow the tips to turn ignition on.
Select “Scenic II” car model.
Choose “Release” then turn on ignition and do not run car engine. This action OK!

Back to choose “Apply” then turn on ignition and do not run car engine. This action OK!

How disable Volvo XC90 DRL light by Volvo Vida Dice 2014D?

This guide is about how use Volvo Vida Dice 2014D to disable Volvo XC90 2007 DRL light. I share this with people who want to expand the lifespan of bulbs and turn DRL light off when it’s unnecessary.
Tool I used:
(I bought it this year, €79.99 in diyobd2.fr, cheap and work as I expected.)
Since I already used this tool for a while, I will skip the software installation step and start directly from opening Vida Dice software. If you are new to it, just make sure installation is complete, all things are prepared!

  1. Back to this topic, below is how to do steps:
First, I plug Volvo Vida Dice unit into the USB port of my laptop and the other end 16-pin connector into the car OBD2 port.
Now time to open the software. I enter vehicle model, type, and year etc information then click “Diagnostic” function in main menu. Next there is a diagram show all modules. I click the “CEM” icon. Next, on bottom of the screen there is “Advanced” tab. I click “Advanced” and choose “Programming control module” at following options.
Then I select the option for Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and this point a page with a lot of details load. I find and click on the “VCT2000” image to begin programming CEM. Then I set “CEM – Daytime running lights” to “Flexstd” and click “Start Programming”. Things done! I quit the software and test the light is off now. I successfully disable the DRL light with Vida Dice 2014d!

Q: How to choose a right ECU programmer? Should I buy KESS and KTAG together?
A: If you only want to repair car ECU, you can KTAG it’s enough for your job. If you do both repairing and ECU chip tuning, KESS + KTAG should be better!
Q: What’s the difference in tokens between cheap KESS V2 and the €199 one? Are they both with unlimited tokens?
A: Yes. Both two versions has unlimited tokens. The only difference lies in token reset way: When add tokens, the cheap KESS (SE87-C) should connect with PC via USB cable, but SE87-D has token renew button, add tokens by directly press the button!
Q: I am using Ktag but not sure for what situation the token is cut?
A: When use KTAG to backup and read ECU, it doesn’t need tokens. For write ECU, KTAG need tokens.
Q: KTAG and KTM100, What’s the difference?
A: KTAG and KTM100 both can do checksum. KTM100 can read when ECU is encrypted, such as BOSCH MEV1746BMW (P171) and BMW N55 N20 ECU.
Q: And what about KESS V2? Token and ECU read write?
A: KESS V2 can read write ECU via OBD or Boot Mode. For new car ECU, you can use OBD way. KESS V2 has no backup function and every read write cost tokens.

L'interface utilisateur de Vpecker a mis à jour à partir de v8.8 à V8.9:
1. Ajouter VCI fonction de connexion WIFI dans le réglage, ce qui permet de vérifier la connexion WIFI.

First of all I would say that it has probably the widest coverage of vehicles with its strengths in particular to older vehicles and Marques such as Ford and Jaguar. Having widest range of protocols meant that this tool, in particular the slave version being the number 1 choice for vehicle remapping franchises to build networks with. Putting the slave tool aside as this has no function to a professional chip tuner, lets look at the master version.
So apart from having the widest range of vehicles what else does the Kess V2 have going for it.
Features
For a start the GUI is very user friendly, this would be an advantage for novice users as all vehicles are set out individually with models and engines all separated so the user can easily identify the correct vehicle.
It also has a very broad help section, so every time you select a vehicle, the tool will automatically give information on correct cables to use or how to read the vehicle, again very user friendly.
There is on the master version a file back up folder where original files for some ID only vehicles can be stored, this enables the user to have an original file to hand instead of having to bootload the ECU or search for an original file.
Another plus for the Kess V2 is that it comes standard with a bootloader function for flashing some ECUs on the bench such as Bosch me7.x.x and Visteon DCU102 where a read function is unavailable.
The tool has industry standard features such as a battery real time monitor, a recovery function, scan tool function to clear down DTC’s and automatic checksum correction where available. On some ECUs a flash counter reset is also available.
Overall the Kess V2 is quite a stable tool 90% of the time. However, lets take a look at the negatives.
The negative
It does on occasion struggle with some protocols and with perseverance it usually manages the job.
Another downside to the Kess is it’s data transfer rate when reading out some vehicles. Some ECUs have been known to take up to 3 hours to read out. Even some basic Bosch EDC16 on Kline have taken up to an hour to read out.
This becomes more of a hindrance for busy tuning shops and mobile tuners as standing around for hours isn’t making money.
In summary,
I would score the Kess a 7/10.
Positives for me would be the coverage of older vehicles, and the ease of use with its GUI for dummies platform.
Negatives are long read times and instability with some controllers.  Alientech also seem to be the last to release new protocols.

It’s tested easy to read out Peugeot 308 and Citroen C3 pin code by XTOOL X100 PAD Key Programmer! Steps are easy even for car owner DIY repairing.
How XTOOL X100 PAD calculate Peugeot 308 security code?
First, connect X100 PAD with car via the Bluetooth VCI box. (Plug the VCI box into car OBD2 port then power on X100 PAD and connect the Bluetooth)
Next, turn car ignition on, go to main menu click “Immobilization” then select “Peugeot”.

Then, open latest software Peugeot V26.24 and choose “Read Security code” function.
Switch ignition off then click “OK” to continue.
Wait 12 seconds, press “OK” then turn on ignition immediately.
Then just follow the tips to turn ignition off and turn it on for several times. Wait the process complete to 100%.
